Amann Girrbach Ceramill Motion 2 5 Axis Wet/Dry Mill
Unfortunately, many dental offices that do in-house or “same-day” crowns are limited to one type of crown fabrication. Typically this is a Cerec crown that offers great esthetics, but the strength of the crown is less than desirable for molars. This is a limitation of having a “wet only” milling machine.
Arte Dental was one of the first dental offices in the state of Texas, and as of today, it remains one of only about five to implement this lab-grade 5-axis mill into a dental office environment. It is capable of milling just about any material, wet or dry, including Zirconia, Emax, Titanium, Cobalt, and more.
This machine allows our in-house lab tech to design and fabricate any type of crown for any tooth. Depending on the circumstance, patient preference, etc., our expertise allows for the perfect crown to be made, with perfect fitment and excellent esthetics. By having this much control of our own lab product, and not relying on outsourcing to another lab, our ability to monitor quality control is unbeatable.
Also, we are one of only a small handful of dental offices in the country that are able to produce our own titanium implant abutments. The Motion2 mill is capable of cutting Grade V (medical grade) Titanium.
Once the abutment is cut, we are also able to use an electrochemical process (anodizing) to alter the dark grey titanium color and give the abutment a gold appearance. This lighter gold shade greatly reduces any shadowing that you may see once the crown is placed on the abutment.
Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CT Scan)
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then what are thousands of pictures worth? This is a great analogy for the power of CT scans. Imagine looking at a 2D photo of a house compared to a 3D virtual tour. The 3D images allow dentists to see important defects and anatomy that wouldn’t be visible with a conventional 2D x-ray, and in many cases, not even visible on a specialist’s microscope. Dentists can predetermine the number of canals on a tooth before starting the endodontic treatment, and fractures can be located, nerves and sinus cavities can be pinpointed to aid in the placement of implants, bone and tissue defects can be spotted and analyzed, and so on.
Arte Dental offers the use of one of, if not the best, in dental CBCT imaging. We’re proud to offer this high-tech service to our patients to eliminate guesswork and to ensure precision dental work.
Laser Dentistry via the AMD Picasso Laser
Laser dentistry is significantly less invasive than more traditional methods, so it generates less bleeding and soreness. Many patients report that laser dental treatments are even gentler than those administered via electrosurgery.
There are many services available through laser dentistry. At our offices, we offer blade-free gingival troughing for crown impressions, laser gingivectomy, exposure for unerupted teeth, soft tissue crown lengthening, frenectomies, and gum disease treatment.
Better Treatment Through Digital Impressions and X-Rays
Embrace advancements in medical imaging by making an appointment for digital impressions and x-rays with our dentist in Little Elm, TX, or McKinney, TX. As part of our hi-tech dental care, our team utilizes the latest advancements in medical imaging for dental treatments.
Our digital impressions virtually eliminate the need for remakes and result in crowns with excellent fitment. In turn, this shortens the appointment by up to 22% and ensures that you do not need to return for further impression appointments. Digital impressions work by providing real-time, high-impact visualization, so you get to know your teeth better than ever before. It can also be integrated with Invisalign. Reach out to our team for more details on our hi-tech digital impressions.
Reduce your exposure to radiation with digital x-rays at our dental office. These types of x-rays use 90% less radiation than film x-rays. They are also higher resolution, which allows us to detect problems earlier and gives us the ability to plan treatments more accurately. Since digital x-rays are available for immediate viewing, you get a diagnosis more quickly. Furthermore, digital files are easier to store, share, and view, so getting a second opinion is easier now than ever before.
Digitally Accurate Models and Surgical Guides Via 3D Printing
The Form 2 printer that we use in-house for model printing and for fabrication of surgical guides uses a laser with 140-micron spot size. The end result is accuracy within .002″ (0.05mm). When placing implants and seating crowns, every micron counts. This precision is, for example, what provides our crowns with an accurate fit and therefore allows us to warranty them for five years.
